Colophon

Who made this, how it works, and what it refuses to do.

Shangpai is a small magazine about small games. It carries 120 entries in ten sections, written in English and Bahasa Melayu from the same source. No entry was placed for money, and none ever will be.

Each entry is opened cold, timed to first play, and played to the end of one round before it is filed. If an entry breaks later, it is pulled from the section rather than left up broken.

The magazine keeps no accounts and sends no data anywhere. Your shelf, your cheers and your reading history live inside your browser and die there.

How an entry is filed

  1. Opened cold on a standard connection and timed to first playable frame.
  2. Played to the end of one full round, on both desktop and phone.
  3. Cover art fetched and verified; tags read for players and kid-ok.
  4. Given a section and a reference code, then published in the editions list.

What the magazine is not

It is not a feed — nothing here is chosen for you by a machine. It is not a store — nothing is for sale. And it is not a host: every entry runs from its publisher’s own player inside an embedded frame.

Writing in

Corrections are read the same day: a broken entry, a wrong section, a note that misses the point. Send the page address and what you saw.
