Card games deserve their own section because they behave differently from board games. The cards you receive are random, but the arrangement of cards in your hand is not, and the gap between those two facts is where skill lives. This section gathers card games that give you one good decision every two or three minutes, and that let you explain for yourself why a round was lost. We refuse card games that change card values halfway, that hide their rules behind the fifth round, and that settle a round purely on a draw without giving you a chance to intervene. One card round here runs five to eight minutes, long enough for one meaningful decision and short enough not to leave you halfway when the break ends.

Five ways to manage lives
Lives are the easiest resource to waste in a light game, because early in a session they look plentiful.
- Do not spend lives on a board you already understand; save them for boards that need attempts.
- Stop after the second life is gone; the next board is usually worse.
- With one life left, play slowly; speed does not add lives.
- Do not start a new board with under two minutes left.
- Note which boards drain lives; the pattern repeats.
In Cards & Lives, players who stop after the second life lost come back with a higher clear rate next session.
